Helping red squirrels at Moncreiffe Hill – volunteers needed

Do you have a sharp pair of eyes, love the outdoors and are keen to support local wildlife?
The Woodland Trust Scotland in conjunction with Perth & Kinross Red Squirrel Group (PKRSG) is actively seeking volunteers to help establish how many red (and grey) squirrels there are currently on Moncreiffe Hill, outside Bridge of Earn. This important survey work will help the Trust plan exactly where tree harvesting should and should not take place later on this year.
It will also seek to assist wider red squirrel conservation work in Tayside. Depending on the outcome of the survey work, some grey squirrel control maybe necessary to support the red squirrels living on the Hill and PKRSG is keen to hear from anyone willing to assist if this is the case. Such work would be carried out in support of the Red Squirrel Action Plan for Scotland.

If you would like to get involved in looking for squirrels on Moncreiffe Hill or are simply keen to know more, please contact PKRSG by contacting us. For further information about the Woodland Trust Scotland or the plans for management at Moncreiffe Hill, see the woodland trust website or phone 01738 635829.
